Coming from a serene suburb rich in English history to the Silicon Valley of India, Whitefield's story was shaped mostly by the information technology revolution that transformed the sleepy scenery with Asia's first technology park springing up in 1994.

The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) acquired large tracts of land to earmark the Export Promotion Industrial Park (EPIP) zone where multiple companies across varied sectors such as IT and IT enabled services, healthcare and engineering, invested land in setting up their large-format built-to-suit offices.

Areas that were hitherto sleepy hamlets have become hubs of the IT and ITeS areas. A lot of the action was based on the tech parks within Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and Kundalahalli Village in Krishnarajapuram, Nagavara, Varthur, Doddakanahalli, Kadubeesanahalli, Sadarmangala, Bellandur, Mahadevapura, and Kaggadasapura. According to another exper,t these SEZs and EPIP attract many companies, both large and small, to set offices in these areas, as  federal government encourages them to do so by providing them many benefits. sThese companies then provide job opportunities. For instance, Whitefield progressed from a sleepy suburban area to a bustling area when industries commenced working out of the region. This stretch became industrialized and in the 70s, and it has become one of the fastest-developing professional areas, with several medium and considerable industries setting offices here.

With this advancement of industries areas of SEZs and EPIP, one can also hope that there will be many Luxury apartments in Bangalore which will be constructed in this area.
